Our Origin Story
Teen Difference was founded by Matthew Nam in 2022 November. After recognizing the growing disconnect between youth and older adults, Matthew started Teen Difference in order to facilitate intergenerational connections. With the intent to create change in his community, Matthew reached out to proactice students in his community.

In order to connect generations, Teen Difference began providing technology assistance programs to senior centers and communities around Montgomery County. Through these programs, Teen Difference allowed seniors to recieve help on problems with their technology devices while also allowing volunteers and seniors to build relationships.

Our Programs
One-To-One Sessions
Focus:
The priority of the one-to-one sessions is to help seniors with hardware or software issues on their devices.
Session Topics:

Hardware issues with technology (ex. computer/phone not turning on)

Assistance with using different apps

Assistance with managing files and passwords

Assistance to set-up smart TVs, printers, desktops, etc.
Group Information Sessions
Focus:
The priority for group information sessions is to teach seniors about the uses of their technology as well as how to use certain apps.
Session Topics:

How to use messages and FaceTime

Methods to download apps on the app store

Using social media (Instagram, FaceBook, etc.)

Using photos and videos

Protection against viruses/malware when using the internet
